HARNESSING THE POWER OF IOT DATA
The decision making process in a wide range of fields, including agriculture, energy, transportation, safety, and public health, is informed, in key ways, by knowledge from the field of atmospheric science. The instruments currently used for weather monitoring, however, often suffer from limitations, due to technical and practical constraints. Technologies such as remote sensing systems, and instruments deployed at surface level, may grapple with issues such as low spatial representativity, or reduced precision of near ground measurements. These limitations reduce the ability to perform extensive environmental observations, and, as a result, the capacity to provide warning, and to contend with the danger posed by weather conditions.
As multi-system informatics and sensing technology have become increasingly embedded in our environment, they have grown ever more distributed. Dr. David specializes in atmospheric physics and applied meteorology. Upon completing his doctoral degree at the Geophysics Department of Tel Aviv University (Israel), he carried out his post-doctoral work with the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, at Cornell University (New York), as well as taking positions as a visiting scientist at other prestigious research institutes, such as Columbia University (New York), and the University of Tokyo (Japan).
His academic research, which was rigorously reviewed by a range of experts in the environmental and technological fields, was published in leading scientific journals, and was widely reviewed in some of the most prestigious stages in the world, such as Scientific American, Physics Today, Popular Science, and more.
